   The Board of Commissioners elected by the public serve as the governing body for the Buell Red Prairie Water District and

   set water rates and charges for the district. The Commissioners serve voluntarily and require customer cooperation in observing

   the district’s “Rules and Regulations” for metered water service and for prompt payment of monthly water bills. These actions

   will ensure the continuous successful operation of the district for the benefit of all.                              Revised and Updated 3-10-26

      MONTHLY WATER CHARGES: Payment is due by the 25th of each month regardless of the billing date.

 

      Rate effective date November 2024

          Base Rate $65.00

          Back-flow Valve Fee $3.50

          Water Use Rate:

             Tier 1 –   zero- 5,000 gallons = $.013 per gallon

             Tier 2 –   5,001 – 10,000 gallons = $.020 per gallon

             Tier 3 –   10,001 gallons and up = $.027 per gallon

   How it works:

  1. Usage is categorized: The total usage is divided into defined tiers.

  2. Each tier is priced differently: The price per unit of water (e.g., per gallon) increases with each tier.

  3. The bill is calculated: The cost for each tier is calculated separately and then added together to get the total water bill.

 

      PAST DUE CHARGES: If payment is not received by the 25th of the month, a 10% penalty on the unpaid balance

      will be included in the “Prev Balance” on your next billing card. The BRPWD Rules and Regulations cover in detail

      what happens when a delinquent account goes past due and the consequences of not paying your bill on a timely basis.

     DEPOSITS:

 

       New Service - Property Owner* New Service - $225.00

                              Renter * $150.00

   *This deposit will be applied to delinquencies, or penalties and the close-out bill with any excess refunded when the service                   agreement is terminated. Any unpaid balance of the previous occupant of property must be paid in full and brought

     current before service will be provided.

 

    NEW METER INSTALLATION: Base Cost* $6,000.00

    *Any additional work like road crossing, 1” meter requirement, etc., are to be paid by the owner at their cost. All other costs

      incurred from the meter to the residence are the homeowner's responsibility.

 

   METER LINE MOVES, EXTENSIONS:

   The district will provide the contractor to do the work or repair, and the customer pays the total cost for the repair or work.

 

   OTHER SERVICE CHARGES & FEES:

 

  ❖ Delinquent Bill Notification (example Registered Letter mailing)…...... $15.00

  ❖ Bank NSF Charge/Returned Check……………………………….……….....$35.00

  ❖ Vegetation Removal around meter…………………………………..…....... $50.00 (minimum).

  ❖ Meter Lock-off ……………………………………………………………..….. $100.00

  ❖ Turn on meter after a lockout …………………………………………….... $100.00

  ❖ Repair Call Out by Customer: If our system or meter, no cost to the customer, but if caused by customer they pay

    total cost for the repair or work.

 

  ❖ Illegal Hook up…$150.00 Plus Lock off Charge & possible illegal water use fine (when additional hookup is put in

       place without proper BRPWD approval)

 

  ❖ *Illegal Water Use Fine…… $500.00 minimum (cutting or removing a lock that was placed on the meter by BRPWD personnel)

              *Fine and possible Criminal prosecution: See Section 20 of Rules & Regulations
